The New Privacy Settings Page

In June 2010, Facebook changed their privacy controls yet again, but we have all you need to know about navigating the updated controls. There are four areas in which you can customize your privacy settings. Protecting Your Information from Advertisements

There are two types of advertisements that may be able to use your Facebook profile information. Ads shown by third party applications, and Ads shown by Facebook. Follow these steps to control how your information is used in both types of advertisements.

  1. Locate Account on the Dashboard Toolbar. From the Account menu, select Account Settings.

  3. Select the Facebook Ads tab in My Accounts.

  5. Ads shown by third party applications: At the moment, Facebook does not allow third-party applications or ad networks to use your name or picture in ads, but this might be allowed in the future. If you do not want your information used in the future, you can change this setting now. Select No one from the drop-down menu, then Save Changes.
  6. Block Ads Block Ads
  7. Ads shown by Facebook: Advertisements on the Facebook site will sometimes incorporate your Profile picture or things that you Like (if you have clicked the Like button under an advertisement). If you do not want anyone to see information about you in advertisements, select No one from the drop-down menu, then Save Changes.
