Posting a status update

  • Status updates on Facebook let your friends know what’s on your mind or what you’re doing.
  • To post your status, log into the Facebook app. This will bring you to your news feed.
  • Tap the Status icon toward the upper left-hand corner of the screen (underneath the search bar).
  • Use the audience selector to control who can see your status update. Tap to the right of To: and choose if you want your status to be Public, shared only with Friends, or Friends except… to make it so that certain friends can’t see your status.
  • In your status update, you can simply include text. You can also tap the Photo icon to share a photo, or the Description icon to describe what you’re doing. Feel free include Emojis or your Location by tapping their respective icons.
  • You can also tag friends by tapping the Tag icon, and then selecting who out of your friends you would like to include in your status update.
  • When you’re finished, tap Post in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
  • Your status update will appear on your Timeline and in your News Feed.
